Alfa AWUS036NH 2000mW 2W 802.11g/n High Gain USB Wireless G / N Long-Range WiFi Network Adapter with 5dBi Screw-On Swivel Rubber Antenna and 7dBi Panel Antenna and Mini bendable Flex cable
AWUS036NH 2000mw N/G/B High Gain USB Wireless Adapter

Alfa has three authorized dealers are : DBROTH , ROKLAND , DATA-ALLIANCE...data-alliance has a lot of information concerning wireless technology

I have a Gateway 4G RAM/500G-HD... "Intel(R)WiFi Link 5100 AGN" ..is the internal adapter. It works good enough if you are in an area with plenty of close access points(I live in a rural town 48 miles from Charleston SC),could only get online in my RV and the signal was weak..No connections in the house period!

Bought the :| Alfa AWUS036NH 2000mW 2W 802.11g/n High Gain USB Wireless G/N Long-Range WiFi Network Adapter with 5dBi Screw-On Swivel Rubber Antenna and 7dBi Panel Antenna and Mini bendable Flex cable| Read a lot of negative customer reviews comparing AWUS036NH2000mw N/G/B to the: AWUS036H1000mw G/B Because the existing standard is G.
AWUS036H 1000mw G/B is not compatible with N. Dealers recommend this adapter for its sensitivity to G (stronger signal strength) even though Alfa 2000 N is backward compatible with G/B .
The 2000 definitely has the best range,I think a lot depends on the antenna used the *7dBi Panel Antenna really focuses on a signal! The adapter can be configured in device manager.

For the price I'm very excited to have the *Alfa 2000 N/G . I am estimating the loss in G signal strength with the Alfa 2000 N/G at about 10%,maybe? It is getting me online in the house at about | *37%-47% | with panel antenna.I am totally ecstatic about any reception!

Installation: It came with a mini disc, I have windows 7 Simply clicked the application exe. the chipset and "Ralink Interface" where installed a few seconds .I did re-name the connection to: "Alfa usb Adapter" I use the *Ralink interface (recommend installing) it shows *link quality and *signal strength" plus other data and options.

The wireless icon on my task bar will show both "Network Connection" and "Alfa USB Adapter" and the connections available for each. However, the bars do not jump up when I'm using the Alpa adapter they stay at about 2 bars. The*Ralink software" shows the actual *link quality and *signal strength, both have been excellent! So did not have to disable the internal "*Intel(R)WiFi Link 5100 AGN" now have the option to use either one, which is very handy!

The product came with 6' of 2.0 USB cable ,also. Getting the adapter high above the computer increases signal. Use USB cable for more distance as there is less signal loss compared to antenna cable. For any distances over 15' you need a USB 2.0 Active Repeater Extension Cable. Highly recommend checking out:*([...])great assortment of wireless components!

The FCC could demand usage of "N standard" for all new computers and routers tomorrow? Who knows ,anyway this Adapter is cheaper than good quality USB cable in a retail store!!
bought mine from "DBROTH" he has some interesting packages ! Did think the shipping cost was a little high, but still A GREAT DEAL! and he emailed me back if I have any Questions... a plus!

****************I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE:*Alfa AWUS036NH 2000mW 2W 802.11g/n High Gain USB Wireless G / N Long-Range WiFi Network Adapter********************************

other Alfa Adapters are: *AWUS051NH 500mw (abgn) *AWUS036H 1000mw G/B Thank You, artnold
